A beautiful memorial garden for the Mortlake Crematorium in South West London. A garden dedicated to the memory of infants and children and was inspired by the children’s story “Waterbugs and Dragonflies” by Doris Stickley.
The memorial garden was designed for quiet contemplation – a large circular lily pond provides the centrepiece, with shrubs and herbaceous planting around a gravel covered seating area with a further water feature on the perimeter. A sculptured Memorial Tree is located in this garden, and a leaf can be dedicated to the memory of a loved infant or child.
The large circular lawn area to the front of the main building was also re-configured to restore it to its original intended shape. The thoughtful and understated memorial garden has been highly praised by both the client and others – culminating in being shortlisted for an APL award 2017.
