Eton House was a long-vacant office building situated in the heart of Richmond, in an area where quality office spaces are hard to come by.
The project involved converting the unused parking area into a vibrant Office Garden for future tenants, alongside new street tree planting and upper garden terraces.
The challenge was to retain as much of the existing building’s fabric and structure as possible, with the goal of preserving embedded carbon and reducing the environmental impacts usually linked to redevelopment. Furthermore, being located within the Central Richmond Conservation Area, the proposal needed to be respectful and sensitive to its historical context.
The transformation of the old car park into a breathtaking new office garden, features 400m² of new garden space, which included 1,800 plants across 92 different species. We also planted 35 new trees and created an impressive 25m² custom vertical garden.
We are excited to announce that this project has been shortlisted for an Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) award.
